I've seen turkey tracks occasionally over the years, but never the
turkeys. Then on Martin Luther King's day 2007 I saw lots of turkey tracks
in the snow in my front hard. Thursday that week early in the morning
I caught some motion out of the corner of my eye while looking out my
bedroom window. I thought it might be a black cat slinking over a rock,
but as I studied the rock about 200 feet away I saw no more motion for
several seconds. Then the rock became a turkey as it moved and it's head
and neck came into view! I called my son to come with some binoculars
and look. We kept an eye on them as we continued to get ready to go
to school and work and became convinced that there were at least seven
turkeys in the flock and maybe eight. I decided to take pictures just
before we got in the car to leave, and here they are:
These pictures were taken from a distance of between 180 and 200 feet with a lense equivalent to 105mm for 35mm film. |
