I found this
article
in the news which lead me to search for some explanation of how the
Wallis product makes pi and found
this
(I couldn't be bothered with the 'modern' integral calculus proofs)
which set me to creating a
postscript
file and an
OpenSCAD
file from which these images derive. (Download these two links
and view them in your favorite text editor if your browser doesn't
load them as text.)
I kind of created the Postscript file as I worked my way through the proof which, for me anyway, was not so elementary. It seemed natural to want to make the 2D images pop into the third dimension! |
